Buy itThe Pavina double old fashioned glass is the winner of the European iF Design Award. The Pavina double wall glasses can be use the whole year round. You can use them for your cold drinks in summer and hot drinks in winter. They are made of a very strong but yet light weight glass (borosilicate glass). They can safely go in the dishwasher and microwave. No coaster needed.Bodum's insulated glassware is made from durable Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a strong heat-resistant glass that weighs less than traditional glassware. Used to make scientific lab glass, borosilicate glass (medical grade glass) is stronger than traditional "soda-lime" glass and can be used for everything from drinkware to cookware. Some people may perceive the glass to be "thin" as they hold it. It is important to understand the difference between borosilicate and soda lime glass. Borosilicate glass doesn't need to be as thick as traditional glass to be just as strong. Borosilicate is simply a different type of glass that is resistant to temperature swings and scratching. Because the particles are held together so tightly, borosilicate glass is dishwasher safe and will not become cloudy over time; you can rest assured that after 100 cycles, the glass will be as clear as the day you bought it. Simply treat it as you would any glass product and it will stand up to every day use. Our insulated, double

These are use for my lattes. Minor contact with other hard glasses will cause breakage. No warranty, most likely. I will not replace the two I have left after they break.
I liked the product very much, the extra careful handling required is tedious.

The sleek, elegant aesthetic of these glasses had me smitten once I saw them online. I was fortunate enough to receive a full set of varying sizes (12-oz, 15 oz and some mugs) for Christmas last year (2009) and I am glad to report that I simply LOVE them.
Granted: Between my husband and I, we broke three 15-oz ones in the past year that we had them (and have bought 2 replacements thus far). That said, we broke two of them (on separate occasions) while washing, when our hands are soapy and essentially bashed them against the side of the sink. The third one we broke out of sheer clumsiness, when I dropped the entire glass when handing it to my husband to put away :(
Thankfully we have no had any issues with breakage due to ice cubes or stirring with metal spoons etc., that I have read in some reviews.
The 12-oz glasses and Bodum Bistro Double-Wall Insulated 10-Ounce Glass Mug, Set of 2, that we use on a daily basis for hot and cold beverages, are holding up really well, no scratches or any sign of wear at all. I believe, due to the shape of the glasses and how thinly the glass is "stretched", the smaller/shorter the glass, the more durable it is because the glass is denser.
With regard to children, when our little nieces (ages 5 and 8) visit, we're not nervous about having them use these glasses. They are pretty careful about using them and are constantly intrigued by the 'floating water'.
Overall, I would recommend these glasses, as long as you exercise a little bit more care when handling them, or at least, not have the mindset that they're indestructible. Yes, they're expensive, they're gorgeous to look at, but remember that they're also glass and glass = fragile.

This newer model (2009-2010) does not measure up to the prior models. I have an older set of these purchased at least 2 years ago, and they are still in tip-top shape. I then purchased two more sets this year and all are broken already. The newer model (which I assume is what is available online these days) seems to be made of thinner glass. Moreover, the seal on the bottom is covered with some sort of plastic button (the older model did not have this but rather, was solid glass). Prior to breakage, I had problems with moisture seeping in between the glass layers. The original product was sturdy and definitely kept hots hot and colds cold. The newer model does, too...while they are still in one piece. Shame on Bodum for cutting corners.

Great quality workmanship and extreme performance with awesome hot/cold insulation. My favorite beverage container. Use it every day. Beware of imitators. Awesome! Will buy more. Don't cry when you break them though,...

We live in SW Florida where summers are sweaty hot. Not just for people but for cold drinks as well. Frustrated by condensation soaked coasters we decided to try a set of these. They worked so well we ordered another set of the 12oz size. I recomend the 12 oz glasses over the 8.5's which are a little too small for most things.
